End of Competition...
Well done Great Britain and Germany, what a fantastic result by both teams, Roman Mracek from the Czech Republic got the Bronze medal in the club class. The end of comp party and closing ceremony have finished. Both were well attended by nearly all the teams. As is usual for a closing ceremony the sky was full of cumulus, a fitting end for a fantastic competition. David Roberts, BGA chairman, gave the closing speech thanking all the teams, the competition organisation, our sponsors, and all the people who put immense amounts of work into the competition preparation. Andy Davis gave a brief summary of some of the comp statistics and presented the prizes to the competitors. Phil King representing our main sponsor, ASTRAC, presented the Team Cup to Germany. Bruno Ramseyer, president of the Jury declared the competition fair and valid. Ron Bridges, the lugubrious and long suffering director nearly managed to pronounce all the winners names correctly, much to Christoph Nacke's relief. As soon as prize giving ended Andy Davis climbed into his Discus and aerotowed down to the drop zone at Nympsfield to compete in the Standard class nationals. The competition infrastructure is being dismantled... the Soaring Centre members can look forward to getting their airfield back.
